She may wee before the nation but she's still my hero

26.2 Miles

The curbs in rotherhithe
crowd
Squinting at the bridge
For the glare of truck lights
Signalling the start.
She glides

A roar waves through an electric huddle of strangers.

Thirty six thousand more flood through the street
Like a tidal crash of fancy dress and charity logos.

Without a drenched day to cool aching limbs
The runners burn, their smiles
as grimaces
fixed
Like medals for acheivement.

Ah, the marathon again. Good old Paula - what a legend :o) was glad to be a beer-swigging spectator this year but bring on the new york marathon - I find out of I get in at the end of May!

Long Time No

Apologies for the lack of posts recently, I have been experiencing a run-down of inspiration.

Distance

Miles separate our lives
Like shades of the same
Through tinted glass
Half-something with wine.

I would travel over where
The jewels seem often brighter, but
days in tones, we are just
swatches
in spectrum;
Breathing water

Waiting to fall.
